First pitch today at Cumberland Gap is 5:30pm as Campbell takes on the Lady Panthers
By Clayton Carroll
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Nikki Creech era is underway at Chapman Field for the Campbell County Lady Cougar Softball team.
Rebecca Mongar-Collette, the 15 year Campbell County head softball coach resigned at the end of last softball season. This meant Campbell County, for the first time in a while, would have to have a coaching search for softball. Â
Tasked with leading the Orange-and-Blue on to the softball diamond this season is Creech.
Creech was the previous coach for the Campbell County Middle School softball squad, and has college experience playing on the softball field.
Campbell has three seniors on the roster, Gracie Trefz, Destiny Rutherford, and Jenna Yancey. Also juniors Lakin Smith, Gracelynn Chadwell, and Kiera Bierdemann should have a strong contribution to the team. Â
The Lady Cougars have already started the season swith a win at the Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge. Losses have come to CAK and Catholic. The Lady Cougars are back on the diamond this afternoon at Cumberland Gap against the Lady Panthers.
