JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- County Commissioners held a workshop on Monday evening to set the agenda for next week’s commission meeting.
Contract approvals, agreements and other business items will top the agenda for next week’s county commission meeting.
Approval of a contract between Turn Key Health Clinics and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department for inmate health services will be on the agenda.
A five-year contract with CINTAS for uniforms for the county EMS department was going to be on the agenda for next week but was tabled after commissioner David Adkins said his department had issues with the company in the past.
“I am not for that. They want a five-year contract. As a department head, I feel that they have not lived up to their word, and I personally think we should look at other vendors. On their contract with us, they basically said if we signed the contract, it would save us money, but if you read the fine print, it said after three months those savings would be added back in,” Adkins said.
Commission Chairman Johnny Bruce suggested tabling it and asking the department heads to look at it and weigh in.
EMS Director Bruce Perkins said this was the first year that they would be using it and it was the only one who could come under that $4,000 budget for uniforms.
Rusty Orick said he thought each department head should look at it and decide for their departments.
Adkins said, “it may be the best deal going, but there has been plenty of times they have not lived up to their commitment… my guys like to have their laundry done and that CINTAS is supposed to change that stuff out weekly and half the time they will show up with three shirts and one pair of pants rather than five pairs of each.” Adkins also said their “billing system was a nightmare.”
This issue will be tabled until the September commission meeting.
Also, up for approval at next week’s meeting will be for the EMT to surplus a 2006 Crown Vic., and for the sheriff’s department to surplus of a Dodge Charger to sell to the Jacksboro Police Department.
Also on the agenda will be approval to fill the K-9 vacancy after the passing of K-9 Daisy at no cost to the county. The sheriff’s department had the K-9 donated to them.
Next week, commissioners will also vote on the transfer of the EMS tower on Hollis Lane to be transferred to the Stoney Fork Fire Department. The fire department will have to take the tower down. All of the EMS’s stuff has been removed from the old tower and is now on the new tower, according to EMS Director Bruce Perkins.
The commission will also vote on approval for the county to sign a Memorandum of agreement between Genesis Health Care and the Campbell County EMS.
In other business, approvement for the Sheriff’s Department to apply for a $15,000 grant with TCI will also be on the agenda.
During Monday’s workshop, Vice Mayor Randy Brown announced that TCAT Jacksboro would be holding its annual job fair on Aug. 25th.
Commission Chairman Bruce also announced that new county commissioners and the new county mayor would be sworn in on Fri., Aug. 28th at 10 am and would officially take office on Tue., Sep. 1st.
