CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (WLAF)- In the top photo, a portion of the Stinking Creek community was ravaged by a flash flood on Sunday. Heavy rainfall is possible again today. As a result, until 8am Thursday, there is a FLASH FLOOD OOD WATCH for Campbell County and the region.

Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and through the overnight hours. However, the confidence in how widespread they are is low. Some locations will likely see heavy rains, upwards of 2 to 3 inches. Areas that received heavy rain yesterday will be more susceptible to flash flooding if they receive additional heavy rainfall today and tonight. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through 8 AM EDT Thursday morning, generally along I-40 and northward.

Gusty winds will be the primary threat is storms are able to organize Wednesday evening. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/12/2026-5PM-TEXT AND IMAGE COURTESY OF THE NWS MORRISTOWN-PHOTO COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
