Local Campbell County resident Joanna Underwood was recognized by South Arts with an Emerging Artist grant for her work in traditional food pathways.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- This year’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” perfectly represents the teamwork and dedication seen every day across Campbell County’s emergency services system.

Campbell County is fortunate to be served by some of the most dedicated emergency medical providers anywhere in the country. During EMS Week, we pause to recognize the Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, and Critical Care Paramedics who answer the call day and night to care for our friends, neighbors, and families during some of life’s worst moments.

Mayor Lynch shares update with at JECDB meeting

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- At Thursday’s Joint Economic Community Development meeting, board chairman Jay Willoughby asked area mayors to give updates on what was going on in their communities, as well as “positive things that have happened over the past few years.”

County Mayor Jack Lynch spoke about positives and updates briefly saying that the mayor’s office had been busy and that Campbell County had been growing.

Town of Caryville personnel pay discussed

Special called meeting to vote on first reading of new budget needs to be set

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- On Thursday afternoon, the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in a special called workshop to discuss the 2026-27 budget with Aldermen Josh Monday and Aldermen Jordan Cross absent. The only item on the agenda was to discuss personnel pay. The workshop lasted approximately two hours.

Gabe Keen’s state fishing record stood for more than 11 years

The record Keen broke in February 2015 had stood for more than 60 years

This was the record catch in 2015 by Gabe Keen.

NASHVILLE, TN- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has confirmed that a new state record for a Largemouth Bass has been established, breaking the previous mark, which was set more than 11 years ago by Campbell County High School Fishing Coach Gabe Keen. “Records are made to be broken. Catching the state record was an amazing experience that led to a lot of good opportunities,” said Keen.

City of La Follette moves workshop up a week early to today

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Memorial Day falls on the last Monday of May, and leaders with the City of La Follette moved its workshop up by a week to today, May 18.

Discussion of appointing a person to the board of LUB, removal of Stop Light 8 and data centers with regard to the Jackson Law are among the items on the agenda.

Greeneview Farms Market bringing the rodeo back to town
