LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- The City of LaFollette has started work on drafting its package store ordinance.

In an afternoon workshop yesterday, LaFollette City Attorney Reid Troutman walked the council through the criteria it would need to consider in granting the licenses.

Working through a large packet, Troutman suggested the group make notes on what provisions they want to see incorporated into the city’s newest ordinance.

Among the requirements to be considered are:

  • Location
  • Application process and fee along with renewal fee
  • How many licenses to issue

The consensus was to mirror the beer ordinance the city currently has in place. Moving forward, the package store ordinance will be discussed in regular workshops. The goal is to have the final public hearing on the matter in April.

It will be on the workshop agenda for Feb. 24 at 5:30pm.

  1. Oh how far we have fallen from the days of everything closed on Sunday, everything closed half a day on Wednesday, and we were a dry county.
