Celebrating 100 years with a ribbon tying ceremony last Friday

Owned and operated by Lansden Hill Jr., the business was started in the 1925 by Hill’s grandfather and is now in its third generation of family ownership. It is an independent insurance agency.  Originally located on the second floor of the original Peoples National Bank, the business moved to the building by the old Kay’s Ice cream shop in the 1950s. The insurance business was located there until it moved to its current location, 701 West Central Avenue, in the early 1970s.

The E.E. Hill Insurance Agency is one of Campbell County’s oldest businesses.

Hill’s father originally worked for his dad, taking time off to serve his country in World War II, before coming back and purchasing the business in the early 1960s. He sold it to his son Lansden in 1977.

Hill describes the insurance business as always being a “love of his life.”

“It’s the family business, and we’ve been serving the community for 100 years. The insurance business has served me well, but it wouldn’t be a success without my dedicated and experienced staff,” Hill said, adding that all of the staff had a “commitment of service” to clients.
