Two new beer licenses approved by City beer board

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Yesterday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council met for its monthly meeting.

In administrative matters, three bids were accepted. The first was the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) home grant bid for 408 South Indiana Avenue from 83 Development for $85,255. Next was the bid for $22,000 from Boshears Paving for repairing/paving city right of way on Nevada Avenue. The last matter was the bid for a guardrail on Depot Street and Claiborne Road, which is about 1,000 feet, and the bid is for $32,318.75 from Highway Markings. The council approved advertising for bids on striping and sealing the rear parking lot at the LaFollette Municipal Building. An event permit was approved for Postmark LaFollette on Sat., Sept. 5 for a rummage sale.

The fire department had two promotions approved. Daniel Stevens was promoted to a full-time entry-level fire fighter, and Jesse George was promoted to a full-time entry-level fire fighter.

Two resolutions and one ordinance were approved. Approved was ordinance 2026-07 establishing a temporary one-year moratorium on the acceptance of processing, and approval of an application for new data centers, Resolution 2026-13 amending the 2026-27 budget was approved and lastly Resolution 2026-14 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in PEP Risk Management Pool (Property Conservation) Loss Control Matching Grant Program was approved.

Two beer licenses were approved. First was a license 1984 LaFollette Inc., 207 West Central Avenue, LaFollette (the former glass company building) and Legacy Driven Dreams, 102 N. Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 14, LaFollette (Smoker Friendly). (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/02/2026-6AM)
