Jill Lay Duncan, age 71, of Kingston, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 28, 1954, in Oak Ridge, TN. She married Rick Duncan on March 25, 1972. She trusted Christ as her Savior at the age of 7 and she served the Lord alongside her husband for 54 years as he pastored Baptist churches in Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina. Jill was a sweet Christian and a model pastor’s wife. She was an excellent pianist and organist. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Jill loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksboro, TN.
She is preceded in death by her father, Floyd Lay, mother, Ann Lay, her daughter, Bethany Woods and brother, Jim Lay.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Rick Duncan; daughter, Rickah Herrell and husband, Troy; grandchildren, Drew Mefford and Melanna Herrell; great grandchildren, Judah Mefford and Atlas Mefford; sister, Karen Mayton and husband, John; and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Kingston with Pastor Ray Bearden and Pastor Wesley Duncan officiating. The family will meet at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Fraker Funeral Home to go in procession to Calvary – Hazelwood Cemetery for graveside service at 1:00 PM.
