JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Rising heat from Reynolds Field was most notable at Wednesday afternoon’s Campbell Cougar football practice. “The big thing today is we’re trying to beat the heat, the heat index. We’re tying to get through a little bit quicker,” said Campbell Head Football Coach Mark Pemberton.

The veteran coach and his Cougars were staying a step ahead of the heat index so they could still use their pads and helmets on defense. “We’re trying to get in a lot more reps and improve on what we’re doing,” said Pemberton.
“We’ve simplified it a little on offense for ’em. Hopefully that’ll pay off, and we’ll go from there,” said the coach.
“The main thing is that our kids want to play well, and they’re working hard to play well. They’re gonna get to the point where they play good football, but we gotta keep plugging,’ said Pemberton.
Campbell practiced about an hour before donning pads and helmets at Wednesday’s practice.
Both Campbell and Fulton are coming off season opening losses from a week ago. The Cougars fell 41-0 to Halls at home while Fulton, after a good start, lost at Central 31-12.
