LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute one of our hard working educators with a weekly feature. Teachers make a difference in their students’ lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation.

This week’s featured teacher is Ashley Jones. She teaches Kindergarten at LaFollette Elementary School.

Ashley Jones is Eagle Tire Pros Teacher of the Week. She is pictured in the back row with her husband Jonathan and their three daughters, (front row, left to right) Juliana, Chasity, and Kaylee.

Jones grew up in LaFollette and attended Valley View Elementary School, LaFollette Middle School and graduated from Campbell County High School. She received her bachelors in Elementary K-6 from South College in Knoxville.

Jones is married to Jonathan Jones, and together they have three daughters, Chasity, Kaylee, and Juliana.

“In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, and watching my girls do softball (Chasity) cheer (Kaylee) and dance (Juliana).”

Jones teaches kindergarten at LaFollette Elementary, and this will be her sixth year teaching with five of those years in kindergarten. She was previously a preschool assistant for four years in Anderson County.

Jones said she was inspired to follow a career in teaching because of her grandmother’s influence and that even from a young age, she “played” school with siblings and friends.

“My grandmother was an educator and has always been an inspiration in my life. Growing up my brother, my cousins, and myself would play school where I was usually the teacher,” Jones said.

She also gives the credit to God for leading her to teach.

“I wanted to make a difference and God led me to do that with teaching,” Jones said.

Her favorite part of teaching is the “relationships that are built with students and watching them grow throughout the year.”

Where she teaches is another favorite aspect of her job.

“I love teaching at LES because I have wonderful co-workers who support and encourage me every step of my journey. God truly has blessed me with my family, friends, and career.”
