LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- State Senator Ken Yager made a stop by WLAF on Wednesday afternoon taking time to visit on the radio. Aside from campaigning for re-election, Yager was on WLAF to send a message to men; get tested for prostate cancer.
Yager had wanted to skydive a couple of years ago on his birthday. However, a battle with prostate cancer, one which he won, was happening.
As a result of the cancer, Yager came in contact with a non-profit organization, The Men’s Health Network. It was through this relationship that Tuesday’s sky dive came about.
“I wanted to use my sky dive as a way to bring attention to the need for men, age 50, the Cancer Society says, I say 40, to take a few minutes each year to have a blood draw. This is the best indicator of determining if you have prostate cancer,” said Yager.
Yager is up for re-election on November 5. He has served in the state senate since 2008. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/10/2024-6AM)
