While on routine patrol, La Follette Narcotic Detective Noah Riggs saw a man, Nicholas Knight, and a woman, Samantha Rogers, also known as Gucci, exit the Enterprise Rent-A-Car building on Jacksboro Pike. The couple walked next door to Campbell Tobacco & Beer meeting James Moore, and as they did, Officer Riggs observed a hand-to-hand hand off between Knight and Moore.

Officer Riggs had knowledge that Moore had outstanding warrants for his arrest for possession of felony weight methamphetamine, and after a confirmation on Moore’s warrants, the narcotic detective moved in and placed Moore under arrest. Before Moore was put in the cruiser, a green, leafy substance was recovered from Moore’s watch pocket, and Moore allegedly confirmed it was marijuana.

When asked if he was on probation of any kind, Knight allegedly stated he was on parole. Officer Riggs asked Knight if he could look inside his backpack, and Knight said he could.

Several items were found inside Knight’s backpack including a black plastic toy gun with the red end painted black, a police scanner, one set of brass knuckles with a knife attached to the brass knuckles, according to the police report. The search also revealed a blue foam container that had a glass pipe with burn marks and a white substance inside the glass pipe, also inside the container was a large baggie with several other smaller baggies inside with a large amount of crystal-like substance believed to be meth, and there were letters on most of the baggies, including one baggie with Gucci written on it, labeled for resale, based on the report from La Follette Police.

In all, seven baggies, six labeled, were tested by the narcotic detective with a TruNarc handheld narcotics analyzer, and it was confirmed the baggies contained meth, according to the report. Officer Riggs determined the total weight of the meth was 69.87 grams or 2.465 ounces.

A black note book was also found in the backpack. The notebook had hand writing with dollar amounts for dope along with names and prices, based on the police report. A total of $274 in cash was recovered from Knight. The cash was believed to be from drug sales.

Narcotic Detective Riggs showed the baggie with the name Gucci on it to Samantha or Gucci Rogers. Rogers allegedly stated that Knight was giving her that baggie of meth for her renting a rental car and going with Knight to buy the narcotics, according to the police report.

Nicholas Wayne Knight, 31, of 109 Pleasant Ridge Road-La Follette, and 47-year old James Moore of 149 Whitman Hollow Road-La Follette, were taken into custody.
