Pedestrian does not survive encounter with truck

This truck turned left off North Indiana Avenue heading east when the accident occurred.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigation into the death of a pedestrian struck by a large pick-up truck on Wednesday continues this morning.  Just before 9:30am Wednesday, a middle-aged man was hit by a white Ford dually on East Central Avenue at Indiana Avenue.

La Follette Fire Department first responders were on scene and working with the patient within just a couple of minutes of the accident.  A landing zone for a medical helicopter was secured on East Central Avenue in front of Terry’s Pharmacy as a couple of blocks of the four lane were closed off.

Investigators invested several hours on the scene of this fatal accident.

Before the medical flight landed, it was waved off.  The man died at the scene.

The truck was turning left off North Indiana Avenue heading towards the valley on East Central Avenue when the collision occurred, according to WLAF’s video footage.

East Central Avenue remained closed near the scene of the fatality until 12:30pm.

The driver of the truck was not injured, though he was visibly shaken.  Staff with Campbell EMS attended to him.

La Follette Fire and Police responded along with Campbell County EMS and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.  The THP is handling the investigation and is yet to release the name of the victim.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/27/2025-6AM)
