LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- The City of LaFollette will not be hosting an ATV festival as some city officials had hoped.

After a consulation with MTAS, the Muncipal Techincal Advisory Service, the plans were halted.

City officials recently spoke with the group tasked with advising as well as training cities, towns and their officials. The edict from the meeting was MTAS asking LaFollette “not to act on” hosting the ATV festival, said LaFollette City Administrator Stan Foust.

LaFollette can’t host this type of event because the city nor its officials can solicit funds, Foust said he was told.

In years past, MTAS had previously advised the city not to host this type of festival but LaFollette chose not to listen to the advice.

“We can do something much smaller,” Foust said. While a festival is off the table, a rally is an option.

A rally would resemble the Friday Frenzy hosted by the city last year. Tourism dollars could help support that event.

But even that comes with parameters. The city would have to show the event attracted visitors from at least 50 miles away, according to Terry Sweat, who oversees the city’s funds.

  1. Good I wish they would ride them somewhere else instead up and down my street there very loud when I’m trying to watch TV and they disturb my dogs

  2. I was told that the limited time schedule for the riders had been suspended. I live on South Tennessee Ave. We have atv, mini bikes and off trail motorcycles riding up and down all hours of the late night and very early morning. It is not what was sold in the beginning. Not sure who and why the limited hours were changed.

  3. Good. Those type of vehicles shouldn’t be allowed on city streets. Period. There not suppose to be riding on city roads should be a place outside city limits where those vehicles can get gas. NOT inside city limits with regular vehicles. What they’re involved in a traffic accident? Too dangerous to be on city streets!

  4. Great news
I’m tired of being woke up 2-3am with 6-7 barreling down South Indiana Avenue!!!
They’re not supposed to be on city streets. And now it’s 4 wheelers, and golf carts.
They don’t register their vehicles, they don’t pay wheel tax. They don’t get use of city streets.
