Man charged with speeding is turned over to ICE agents

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- La Follette Police Officer Joe Hicks was on routine patrol late Friday night near La Follette Middle School when his radar confirmed a speeding car had just passed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 gray Chevrolet Impala that was allegedly clocked at 61 miles per hour in a 40 MPH zone as it traveled west into La Follette on East Central Avenue.

Officer Hicks made contact with the driver of the car at the intersection of East Central Avenue and East Elm Street, across from the post office.

The driver identified himself as 21-year old Jose Adrian (Montalvo De Jesus) of 802 East Ash Street- La Follette. Adrian told Officer Hicks that he did not possess a driver’s license, and that he was not a legal citizen of the United States, according to the police report. He was unable to provide acceptable identification.

Adrian was placed under arrest, transported to the Campbell County Jail, booked and held for ICE.

Charges include driving without a driver’s license, speeding (21 MPH over) and no seat belt. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/14/2026-6AM)
