JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Cougars welcomed the Knoxville Ambassadors to town on Monday night for a boys only night of basketball. What we got were two entertaining, high scoring, and thrilling games.

The JV Cougars were up first, and they blitzed the Ambassadors 93-49. Five JV Cougars totaled double digits.

Caden Heatherly was the leading scorer and Mills Door and More player of the game with 17 points, unofficially. Sam Sexton finished right behind him with 15 points. Hunter Dotson scored 14 points. Braydon Gosnell tallied 12 points. Tyler Perkins totaled 10 on the evening. Braydon Graham finished with six points. Ethan Hess contributed five points. Jack Stooksbury put up four points. Lucas McCamey and Braxton Fox scored three, and Riley Gunter finished the scorebook with two points. Asher Foust had some good minutes though he did not score. Every player that dressed, played for the Orange-and-Blue.

As for the varsity game, it was much of the same with some highlight reel, All-Star game type plays. One notable play was when Gavin Owens lobbed the basketball off the backboard and Luke Browning went up and slammed the ball with two hands. See that play HERE on demand.

It was all Campbell County who cruised to a 91-35 domination of the Knoxville Ambassadors.

This time, six Cougars finished with double figures. Luke Browning was the top scorer with 14 points. Braydon Graham, Mills Door and More Player of the Game, finished with 12 points, 10 of which came in the second half. Sam Sexton, number 11, scored 11 points. Hunter Dotson, Will Croley, and Gavin Owens all scored 10 points. Tyler Perkins contributed seven points toward the winning effort. Gavin Cox scored six. Caden Heatherly finished with five points. Jake Hatmaker scored four, and Brady Hatmaker scored two points.

Campbell now advances to 14-12 on the season, and the Knoxville Ambassadors still have yet to claim a victory.

Up next for the Orange-and-Blue is a pivotal district contest at Halls. Campbell ventures to Halls on Wednesday with third place in the district on the line for the Cougars. The Lady Cougars will play at 6pm with the second seed already locked down for the district tournament. WLAF’s coverage begins at 5:45 pm with the Lady Cougars contest, followed by the varsity boys’ action.
