JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- At Monday’s workshop, Commissioner Scott Stanfield brought up that the county had multiple vehicles that had insurance being paid on them even though they were “gone or no longer in service.” Stanfield presented commissioners with paperwork from E.E. Hill & Son Insurance that said the county has “189 vehicles still having insurance paid on them and some are no longer in service”.

“This adds up; at least 50 cars are insured that are gone,” Stanfield said.

Commissioner David Adkins asked if it was an updated list and said that he had removed insurance on a vehicle himself for his department that was still listed on the insurance company’s list.

Stanfield asked to have department heads to “check the VIN numbers and see if the county still owns those cars.”

He also asked to have all department heads go over their insurance and vehicle lists so these could be “cleaned up” and vehicles that are no longer used or in possession of by the county be purged off those lists and dropped off the county’s insurance.

In other business, commissioners will also vote on a MBI contract for Transfer Station Repairs at the Sanitation center, along with a surplus equipment list for the Clerk and Master Office. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/04/2025-6AM)
