A La Follette woman died in a police pursuit
LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office pursuit on Howard Road yesterday ended with a fatality. When the CCSO released its statement to WLAF News last night, there was no mention of a death in the statement.
At 1:29pm a traffic stop was attempted by the CCSO in the Valley View area on Wednesday afternoon. However, the driver failed to comply with officers choosing to flee instead, reports from the CCSO said.
The 2010 Hyundai Elantra was traveling south on Howard Rd. attempting to elude the CCSO, a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said. As the Hyundai, driven by 25-year-old Cassie Miller, attempted to “negotiate a right curve,” it left the road hitting a tree, according to the THP. The car eventually stopped on an embankment off the left side of the road. The report listed the time of the crash as 1:39pm.
Miller was killed in the accident. Paul Junior Boshears, 55, was also injured, the report said. Boshears, also from Campbell County, was airlifted for treatment, according to authorities.
Calls to Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton were not returned. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 11/7/2024- 2PM)
