Dry and mild Wednesday with gusty winds and sunshine

LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- There is an Enhanced Fire Danger statement Wednesday for Campbell County and the region due to low relative humidity and gusty winds.

Gusty winds up to 25 mph are forecast for the valley areas today. Expect wind gusts up to 35 mph across the higher elevations of the east Tennessee mountains.

For now though, an Enhanced Fire Danger statement will be in effect today and until this evening.

The rain, limited chances, Thursday night and Friday will not be significant. However, consistent warm temperatures will mean more vegetation is leafing out and growing reducing the fire threat across the area.

Severe thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday and Sunday night. There is currently a 15 percent chance of severe thunderstorms on Sunday and Sunday night with the primary risk being for damaging winds. Follow updates throughout the week.
