JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- County commissioners held a budget and finance committee meeting on Monday afternoon, approving multiple budget amendments.
The first two budget amendments were regarding the General-Purpose School Fund.
Budget amendment 8-1 includes $63,309 which will be used for an interim principal at Elk Valley Elementary and an interim assistant principal at Jellico High School, as well as to create a $6,000 supplement for an employee to coordinate tutoring district wide. These changes are being made with increased TISA funding.
Budget amendment 8-2 adds $24,470.49 from a pre-K grant into the general-purpose school fund.
Budget amendment 8-3 was for the appropriation of $100,000 of unsigned fund balance for litigation for the airport project.
Budget amendment 8-4 appropriates funding for supplies for Lonas Young Campground in the amount of $1,000.
8-5 appropriates the remaining funding of $61,450,65, for the legal reserve for “possible litigation costs” that may occur for the CJUC litigation and for the airport litigation.
“It is just setting the funds aside for litigation if needed,” Chairman Johnny Bruce said.
Budget amendment 8-6 is for $30,000 that has been approved into a committed equity account for Finance Department System upgrades.
Budget amendment 8-7 is for the Highway public works funds to replace fuel piping for that department. Funds are being appropriated and will be $9,000 coming out of that equity account.
Amendment 8-8 appropriates $20,000 out of the equity account to provide for small projects at the Lonas Young Park
Amendment 8-9 appropriates carry-over funds for the HVAC and IT Capital Outlay note and it is for $44,134.96. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/12/2026-6AM)
