JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- From a very young teacher at La Follette High School in 1968 to director of schools in 2011 to concluding a 55 year career in education as a member of the board of education in 2026 and many other accomplishments, Sharon Mills Ridenour has had quite an era. We at WLAF say “thank you”.

Ridenour was recognized at the board of education meeting, her last, on Tuesday. Director of Schools Charlotte McCoy read and presented a proclamation to Ridenour while BOE Chairman Jeffrey Miller brought flowers. Ridenour also received a glass trophy.

The ever gracious Ridenour was brief and appreciative in her comments to her fellow board members, the voters in her district, district two, and welcomed the newly elected Chris Honeycutt who will begin his service next month. “You’ll have some big high heels to fill,” said Board Member Brandon Johnson.

Ridenour was applauded by all, posed for photos and noted that she’d probably taught everyone there.

Here is the proclamation that was read aloud and presented to Ridenour.
