NASHVILLE, TN. (WLAF)- As of July 1, a number of new laws went into effect in Tennessee. WLAF will be highlighting some of those bills. Today, are miscellaneous laws.
SB2469
As introduced, authorizes certain sitting or retired judges to carry weapons in any location that a law enforcement officer is authorized to carry a weapon if the judge could otherwise qualify for an enhanced handgun carry permit.
SB0343
Amends TCA Title 4; Title 29; Title 33; Title 56; Title 63; Title 68 and Title 71. As enacted, authorizes, as of January 1, 2027, a licensed paramedic to make an actual determination and pronouncement of death; makes related changes.

Amends TCA Title 63, Chapter 24. As enacted, expands the scope of practice for athletic trainers by authorizing them to treat conditions that limit or prevent a person’s participation in certain physical activities rather than just treating injuries that limit or prevent such participation; makes related changes.

Amends TCA Title 4 and Title 49. As enacted, authorizes the establishment of adult public charter schools, which are defined as public charter schools that exclusively serve students who are 18 or older by providing instruction to such students in accordance with the rules for adult high schools promulgated by the state board of education to assist such students in obtaining course credit leading to the attainment of a high school diploma.

Amends TCA Title 56, Chapter 7 and Title 63. As enacted, requires certain insurers to reimburse chiropractic physicians at the same rate as physicians for the same services.
HB1513
Amends TCA Title 2, Chapter 19. As enacted, requires political advertisements to include a disclaimer if the advertisements include deepfake elements impersonating or depicting a candidate engaging in activity or speech in which the impersonated or depicted candidate did not in fact engage; makes a violation of such disclaimer requirement a Class C misdemeanor; entitles candidate to damages and equitable relief for violations.

Amends TCA Title 7, Chapter 34; Title 7, Chapter 82; Title 9, Chapter 21 and Title 68, Chapter 221. As introduced, makes various changes to laws regarding utilities, including the procedure for consolidation of utilities and continuing education requirements for members of utility governing bodies.
HB2111
Amends TCA Title 4, Chapter 29 and Title 41. As introduced, creates the family advisory board within the department of correction for the purposes of assisting the families of incarcerated individuals.
