LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- “We build beds for kids who do not have a bed,” said Bill Thompson, Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. A bed build to continue the SHP mission is set for later this month in the parking lot of Woodson’s Mall.
SHP provides a service for those in need, and there’s always a need for beds, according to Thompson.
“We’ll start at 9:30am on Saturday, October 25, and we’re looking for folks to come out and help us build beds,” said Thompson. The goal for this build is 30 beds, and they’ll all probably be built in about a couple of hours.
“Those who would like to help just need to show up, no experience necessary. We’ll guide you right through it,” said Thompson. A pair of work gloves may come in handy.
“The Lions Club is sponsoring this event, and we appreciate that. However, there is room for more sponsors,” said Thompson.
Aside from helping on bed build day, monetary donations are accepted and so are bed linens. “Right now we’re in desperate need of white twin sheet sets,” said Thompson.
