UBank celebrates 107 years of service

JELLICO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Founded on January 1, 1918, Union Bank has served as a steadfast financial institution in East Tennessee for over a century. For more than 90 years, the Union Bank name was synonymous with trust, reliability, and community commitment. In 2014, the bank ushered in a new era with a refreshed identity of UBank all the while preserving its enduring legacy of service and integrity.

As you head north through Jellico on 5th Street, you’ll see UBank on the right, not far from I-75.

The McClary family has played a pivotal role in shaping the bank’s leadership and vision. Jake McClary joined Union Bank in 1934 and was appointed President in 1952. His son, Pat McClary, began his tenure in 1954 and later served as President and CEO from 1975 to 1994. Allen McClary succeeded him, leading the organization as President and CEO from 1994 until 2023. That year marked a new chapter as Joe Hamdi assumed the role of President and CEO, bringing fresh perspective and strategic direction to the institution.

Now celebrating 107 years of service, UBank continues to evolve in response to the dynamic banking landscape while remaining deeply rooted in its community values. Under Joe Hamdi’s leadership, the bank is focused on enhancing the customer experience, broadening its service offerings, and reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in the region.

Kim Swafford began her career at UBank in 1991 as a customer service representative. Her dedication and leadership have propelled her into her current position as Jellico Market President. Her journey exemplifies UBank’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering growth from within.
