JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- County Commissioners met Monday evening to discuss business items and set the agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting. Among these agenda items will be the approval of the county’s 2025 road list, the adoption of Suttles Lane into the county road system, a bank resolution, and other business items.

Commissioner Dewayne Gibson will be carrying the 2025 county road list, which is up for approval next week. The list comes recommended from County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck.

Approval of the road list is something that must be done by the county commission each year.

Another county road issue which will be voted on is the adoption of Suttles Lane into the county’s road system.

Gibson spoke on this issue during Monday’s workshop.

“Mr. Dilbeck contacted me four or five weeks ago about this and he is in approval of it. Suttles Lane has been turned over to the county. It is located off of General Stiner Highway and it is .3 miles in length,” Gibson said. If approved, the county will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance on this road.

According to Commissioner Rusty Orick, who is on the county’s planning commission, the adoption of the road was recommended through that committee as well.

“It fit all the criteria we had. It should have been a county road and was probably supposed to be to begin with,” Orick said.

In other business, commissioners will also vote on a business authorization resolution with Union Bank & Trust. The resolution names County Finance Director Jeff Marlow and County Trustee Monty Bullock as agents allowing them to act on behalf of the county.

A grant contract amendment between the State of Tennessee Department of Health and the Campbell County Government is also on the agenda for approval.

County Mayor Jack Lynch announced that several county sanitation department employees that went through truck driving training will be recognized at next Tuesday’s meeting.

He also announced that the next Veteran’s Breakfast will be held on Saturday, February 1, at the Jacksboro First Baptist Church; it will be sponsored by the Grand on Central.

Next week’s county commission meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 21, due to the MLK holiday on Monday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/14/2025-6AM)
