JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- During the Christmas holiday, the Campbell Cougars, 8 & 5, and the Lady Cougars, 10 & 1, will take part in a couple of different holiday tourneys. The Cougars are playing at Log Mountain in the Bell County, Kentucky, Tourney that started Friday with a 63-54 win over Jackson County, Kentucky. The Cougars fell to the host Bell Bobcats Saturday night 76-66. Next week, the Cougars play their final game in the Bell County Tourney on Monday at 6pm. The Cougars play Madison Southern of Berea, Kentucky, for third place on Monday at 6pm in the Bell County Tourney. It’s the Orange-n-Blue Cougars versus the Orange-n-Blue Eagles. The Lady Cougars venture to Pensacola, Florida, to play in the Innisfree Hotels Beach Basketball Classic starting on Friday.

On Saturday night, Bell sprinted out of the gate enroute to a 76-66 win though the Cougars threatened late. The Campbell scoring shapes up like this, Gavin Cox 18, Luke Browning 15, Gavin Owens 14, Keegan Nelson 10, Jake Hatmaker six and Will Croley two.

The Cougars are taking Sunday away from game action and practice. Campbell will practice Monday morning on Brown Court before leaving for its 6pm game in the Bell County Tourney.

In the 63-54 Friday win over the Jackson Generals, Luke Browning was tops with 24 points while Gavin Cox tallied 17 followed by eight from Gavin Owens. Jake Hatmaker posted seven points, Will Croley had six and Keegan Nelson put in two points. The win is the 8th for Campbell topping all of last season’s total wins of seven.

For the Lady Cougars, after Christmas, they travel to Pensacola, Florida, for the Innisfree Hotels Beach Basketball Classic. Campbell battles Barren County, Kentucky, which is located at Glasgow. That’s a 12:30pm EST tip on Friday Dec. 27, for the Lady Cougars and Lady Trojans.
