HALLS, TN (WLAF) – It’s been nine years since the Campbell Cougars and Halls Red Devils have played each other in football. The hiatus comes to a close one month from tonight when the two old foes renew their gridiron rivalry. It’ll be a Thursday night, Aug. 17, 7pm kickoff, with the live coverage over the WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network.
Halls and Campbell County played the first 18 seasons of Campbell’s existence with Halls winning all 18 match-ups. Then there was a 17 year stretch of no games scheduled between the two schools from 1993 through 2008. There were meetings every year from 2009-2014 with the Cougars winning the last five of those games with Halls.
Campbell Head Football Coach Justin Price announces the Cougars 2023 football schedule that includes some firsts; two Thursday games and nine of ten 7:00pm kick-offs along with two first-time opponents. CCHS plays The Kings Academy and Daniel Boone in inaugural meetings. The Thursday games serve as bookends to the regular season.
