LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Lafollette Regional Planning Commission met Thursday afternoon at City Hall for its monthly meeting.
Faculty Physicians was requesting a revision to the already approved parking lot for its building where Long John Silvers previously was. All requirements were met with the revisions, and the motion passed.
Warren Heatherly was on the agenda twice for property he recently acquired on North Cumberland Ave. First up was a site plan review for the house Heatherly plans to build after tearing down the existing structure. The site plan passed. He was also on the agenda under zoning appeals, requesting a front and side variance. The front request was to reduce a 35 foot setback to a 10 foot setback which would line the new house up with the others on the street. The side set back request was a 10 foot set back down to a 5 foot. Codes Officer Stuart Hurowitz could not recommend approval due to “setting precedences” for the future. However, the commission voted to approve the setbacks due to a ravine on the backside of the property.
There was a motion of approval to amend C-2 Highway business district that would allow retail package stores.
There was also a motion of approval to amend Title 8 of the City of LaFollette Municipal Code by establishing Liquor Regulations and amending Beer Regulations.
Lastly, Aaron and Chelsea Shoupes requested the closure of a street/alley located at 113 North Mountain Lane. The Shoupes own the lots on either side of the alley, and there is not an access to anywhere. The motion was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/31/2025-6AM)
