LAFOLLETTE, TN (LAF)- The future of agriculture in Campbell County was a topic of discussion for Campbell County High School’s Future Farmers of America president Isaac Jones, who addressed Rotarians Tuesday, March 25th at their luncheon in honor of National Agriculture Day.
According to Jones, “Agri-tourism” is on the horizon for Campbell County.
Jones spoke about how agriculture has changed over the years and what the future of agriculture could look like in our area.

“You know, 25 years ago, it was tobacco crops that were the main staple of Campbell County Farmers. After that phased out, it was beef,” Jones said.
Now, with beef prices “sky high” Jones said area farmers in Campbell County can’t afford to stay in the beef business, and that too is “phasing out.”
Jones said agriculture tourism was something new and that Campbell County was a good fit for it, especially with our mountains and Norris Lake as a backdrop.
He referenced Greenview Farms and others in the area that are adapting new agricultural business models to change with the future and keep farms viable.
Jones also spoke about the FFA organization and what it does.
“We have over a million members nation-wide and 33,000 members here in the state. At CCHS, we have about 200 FFA members, which is a large chapter,” Jones said, adding that FFA “has so multiple opportunities” for students to get involved in various programs, competitions that promote leadership and success.
Jones is also the first FFA Regional Officer from Campbell County.
“I’m proud to be from Campbell County and I am proud to be a part of FFA,” Jones said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/31/2025-6AM-PHOTO SUBMITTED)
