LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Snow and cold temperatures may cause travel impacts through Thursday night as snow began sticking on I-75 in Campbell County at 3am, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. A winter storm has made its way to Campbell County as temperatures hold steady around 28-degrees Wednesday morning. Temperature will stay below freezing until up in the afternoon on Friday.
“The roughest spots I’ve seen are the bridges and overpasses. Folks need to use caution, especially on secondary roads where some have snow covered spots here and there,” said Ron Dilbeck, Campbell County Road Superintendent.
We began seeing snow not long after 2am Wednesday with snowfall increasing by 5am Wednesday with a good snow fall by 7:30am. The bulk of the snow will be on the ground, anywhere from one to three inches, by lunch time.
Wednesday’s high tops out at 31 with the snow tapering by sunset. A low of 17 on Wednesday night will make for treacherous driving conditions overnight into Thursday.
