Snapchat screenshots circulating in attempt to cause fear and panic

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Disturbing screenshots circulating on the internet via Snapchat have prompted Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton to beef up security on and around school campuses beginning this morning.

“We have and will continue to investigate any posts that pertain to the safety of our campuses.   I have been in contact with the liaison for the Knoxville FBI Office, and it appears some of these posts may have originated outside the United States for the purpose of causing fear and panic,” said Barton. 

Based on the information the sheriff’s office has, it is believed the screenshots are not true, according to the sheriff. 

“If anyone has information that may lead us to the original post, please share that with us.  We would rather be safe than sorry, and we will have extra security on and around our campuses,” said Sheriff Barton. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/11/2024-6AM)
