Miller to serve as chairman of the school board, Wheeler vice-chair

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- First district Board of Education member Jeffrey Miller was chosen as the new chairman of the Board of Education.
Both BOE members Randy Heatherly and Jeffrey Miller were nominated for the position of chair, with Miller receiving the most votes. He was nominated by BOE member Crystal Creekmore.

Recently elected BOE member Jamie Wheeler (fourth from left in above photo) was chosen as vice-chair. She was nominated by Creekmore as well.
Heatherly and Wheeler were both nominated for the position of vice chair, with Wheeler receiving the most votes.
Wheeler and Miller both said they were honored to be chosen for the position and “looked forward to working” with other BOE members.
“I know my mom is proud; this is a special moment for me. I appreciate everyone putting their trust in me for this… We are going to make this school system the best we can,” Miller said.
In other business, the BOE approved the 2024-2025 Volunteer Coaching list.
Also approved was a Cloud Connect Service Contract with Provision.
Board members approved an increase in pay for substitute cooks from $9 per hour to $10 per hour and the seating capacity of bus #33 was approved to increase from 77 to 84. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/11/2024-6AM)
