LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- A Campbell County Corrections Officer is out of a job and facing charges following a Friday night altercation.

Campbell County Deputy John Minor received a call from a man alleging he had been chased by Logan Walden. During the chase, Walden, a corrections officer at the county jail, called the victim over Snapchat threatening him, according to the report.

The crux of the argument was an allegation the victim had “flipped off” Walden’s girlfriend.

Going up Demory Road towards the White Bridge, the chase ensued.

The victim eventually pulled over. He did so because “he knew the suspect (Walden) and that the suspect was a deputy and was afraid he would PIT him,” in order to stop the truck, the report said.

With the vehicles stopped, Walden exited his truck approaching the victim in aggressive manner, according to the report. The victim admitted he had a gun down by his side as he refused to fight Walden. However, when Walden saw the gun, he went back to his own car allegedly warning the victim it “was not over.”

The victim and his girlfriend drove off in the direction of the White Bridge. In the meantime, Walden called central dispatch. After identifying himself as a “corrections officer” Walden described stopping to help the victim only to have “a gun pulled on him,” the report said. He also allegedly told 911 had he had his own gun he “would have shot” the victim.

When police spoke with Walden, his version of events was different from the victims and from what he had reported to 911, according to the report.

After Walden was arrested, he was taken to the county jail where his employment was terminated, the report said.

He was also confronted by his one-time supervisor Mike Owens. When Owens told Walden he had “lied” Walden “nodded his head up and down and said ‘yes’,” according to the report.

Walden, 20, LaFollette, was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, filing a false report and official misconduct.

He was transferred to the Anderson County Jail where he spent the weekend. He was released yesterday morning.

Campbell County Sherriff Wayne Barton didn’t return WLAF’s call for comment.
