LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A war hero plans to visit Campbell County and talk with students at several schools before addressing a crowd at The Stables. Medal of Honor recipient U-S Army Sergeant First Class Sammy Davis will be the guest speaker at a fundraiser for Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1148 on October 9.

Davis was presented with the Medal of Honor for extraordinary acts of bravery and gallantry during the Vietnam War in November 1967.

Chapter 1148 is hosting a gala celebrating America’s 250th anniversary all the while recognizing the role of the military. The gala is set for Friday, October 9. Earlier in the day, SFC Davis will be speaking to students at area schools. 

You are encouraged to save the date, because soon individual and table ticket opportunities along with sponsorships will be made available. This is a fundraiser for Vietnam Veteran Chapter 1148 scholarships as well as support for veteran activities.
