Saturday at Magic City Ragtime and Jazz Festival held in Middlesboro

MIDDLESBORO, TN (WLAF)- Local artists Jeanette and Charlotte Underwood (top photo) demonstrated Traditional Appalachian Agriculture Practices at the Magic City Ragtime and Jazz Festival held in Middlesboro, Kentucky on Saturday.

The mother-daughter duo was part of the Tennessee Arts Commission Master and Apprentice Program several years ago and can be found at local and regional festivals demonstrating heirloom seed saving, planting by the signs and other Appalachian Agricultural practices.

The husband-and-wife team and local luthiers Joseph and Samantha Hensley (above) were demonstrators at the Magic City Ragtime and Jazz Festival in Middlesboro on Saturday. The Hensley’s demonstrated the traditional art of stringed instrument repair and building. Joseph Hensley was part of the Tennessee Arts Commission Master and Apprentice Program, and he is passing that art down to Samantha. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-06/23/2025-6AM)
