LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- It’s June 1971 and the Lafollette Community Center pool is opened. The pool is 43×84 with 3 diving boards on the nine- foot end of the pool.

A city official said there have been more than 200 people per day at the pool, with even more on Saturdays.  Adult admission is 50 cents and 25 cents for kids under 12. Sadly the pool was short lived. The city closed the pool in 1989 for renovations, and it never open again.

In 1992, the pool was filled in with the dirt being dug out for the First National Bank expansion. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/17/2025-6AM)

  1. One of the best things about La Follette for a kid back then was the pool. And it was a nice pool, too.
