Paul McCartney and Wings had one of the hottest hits on this long ago weekend with Band On The Run while Gordon Lightfoot’s Sundown was on its way to becoming his only number one song. Bo Donaldson And The Heywoods from Cincinnati had just seen their song, Billy, Don’t Be A Hero, slip out of the top spot, the group’s only number one tune. Still in Casey Kasem’s Top 40, The 70s, Come And Get Your Love by Redbone began its 22 week run in The 40 in December 1973. In addition to these songs, you’ll hear the nation’s other top 36 songs over WLAF just like they all played here on the old radio station in 1974.
