JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the fourth death of the year at the Campbell County Jail.
Mark Garner, 52, Jacksboro, has been identified as the inmate who died on Sunday.
His body has been sent for autopsy, according to Leslie Earhart of the TBI. The investigation “remains active and ongoing,” she said.
The TBI was called in at the request of the Eight Judicial District Attorney General’s Office, according Jared Effler, DA.
Sunday morning, an inmate was discovered in a “medical situation,” Campbell Chief Deputy Cody Chapman said. The inmate was in a cell with others and medical assistance was required.
The inmate was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Chapman. There was nothing that could have been done to prevent this death, he said.
