JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Authorities are investigating the fourth death of the year at the Campbell County Jail.
Details coming out of the county jail at this time are few. The investigation has been turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, according to Campbell County Chief Deputy Cody Chapman.
The TBI was called in at the request of the Eight Judicial District Attorney General’s Office, according Jared Effler, DA.
Yesterday morning, an inmate was discovered in a “medical situation,” Chapman said. The inmate was in a cell with others and medical assistance was required.
The inmate was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Chapman. There was nothing that could have been done to prevent this death, he said.
While the name has not been released, the family was notified, Chapman said.
