LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- It’s a look back to April 1935 on this Throwback Thursday. Paul “Cotton” Smith was already looking toward the future. With commercial electric power coming to Lafollette for all the people, TVA’s Norris Dam power operation was going to change the area, and it would start to happen soon.
Before this announcement, it was just Smith’s Hardware Company, but with changes coming, it became Smith Hardware & Electric Company. Smith’s had already contracted with Kelvinator to sell their complete line of electrical appliances, clothes washers, irons, cook stoves and refrigerators.
Smith’s would also be one of the first to provide the needed electrical materials and parts to make your home ready for the future. From electric lights to all the modern appliances, Smith Hardware & Electric Company could hook you up. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/10/2025-6AM)
Did anyone think it was an April fool joke?
