JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- On Thursday afternoon, officials with Caryville-Jacksboro Utilities Commission announced that CJUC water is potentially contaminated. As a result, the Campbell County Courthouse is closed on Friday while schools that use CJUC water are closed on Friday, Caryville and Jacksboro Elementary Schools and Jacksboro Middle School.

Here is a note from Director of Schools Charlotte McCoy concerning students who attend the three schools:

UPDATED INFORMATION TO INCLUDE EXCUSED ABSENCE INFORMATION

Due to the CJUC contaminated water issue, the following schools will be closed on Friday, August 14, 2026: Caryville Elementary School TN, Jacksboro Elementary School, and Jacksboro Middle School WILL BE CLOSED ONLY.

Any child living in the impacted CJUC coverage area may have their absence excused for Friday, August 14, 2026. This update includes excised absence information excused absence. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/14/2026-6AM)
