Richard Michael Roberts, 82 of Caryville, Tennessee, formerly of Mt. Clemens Michigan, passed away on July 23, 2026, at the Lafollette Medical Center. Mike battled cancer, diabetes and COPD/AFib over the last several years and had been under hospice care. He was born on August 2,1943 to Quentin and Roberta Roberts in Detroit, Michigan.
Mike was a Veteran having served in the U S Army. He was also a land navigational pilot a/k/a truck driver for a large portion of his adult life, having worked for several national companies UPS, Youngblood Truck Lines and US Express to name a few. Mike along with his wife owned and operated several restaurants (Mike’s Snack Bar & Deli & The Belle Meade Restaurant in Jacksboro Tennessee). In his younger years he earned his black belt in karate from the Karate Institute of America and participated in their tournaments and competitions.
In additions to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery M Roberts, daughter Tina Marie and brother Peter Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Vietta Boshears Roberts, brother David Praim (Sue) of Shelby Township, Michigan, Grandson Brandon Roberts (Shannon) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stepchildren, Angela Hudson Durham, East Ridge TN, Howard & Stephen Peach of Caryville TN and Jeffery Peach of St. Petersburg, Florida, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express thanks to the hospice team from Amedisys, the caregivers from Synergy HomeCare and the team of doctors and nurses at the LaFollette Medical Center emergency department. All these dedicated caring folks provided compassionate care and helped our family prepare for Mike’s passing.
It was Mike’s wish to be cremated with no services.
