Raymond Edward Childs, age 87 of Rocky Top, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at his home. He was born on August 1, 1937 to the late Robert Taylor and Elizabeth Knight Childs in Meigs County, Tennessee. Raymond was a veteran of the United States Army and was a talented musician. He also enjoyed building things, traveling, and gardening. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved the Lord and loved his church, Midway Baptist Church in LaFollette. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Prentice, James, Prentice, and Frank Childs; and sister, Vera Pendergrass.

He is survived by wife, Emogene Childs; daughters, Susan, Worley, and husband, Edward, and Teresa Ann Gothard; grandchildren, Ashlee Elizabeth Stuart, Callie Marie Gothard, and Colin Joel Gothard; sister, Kathrine Myers,; several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 1–3 PM with the funeral service to follow at 3 PM with Pastor Johnny Dabney officiating.
