Caryville Volunteer Fire Department and other agencies respond to car fire along I-75

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- There were some tense moments Thursday morning when Caryville Volunteer Firefighters responded to a car fire after getting a report that the driver was believed to still be inside the burning vehicle.

“We received a call of a vehicle fire at 10:00am Thursday reporting someone was possibly still inside,” said Caryville Fire Chief Eddie Hatmaker. While trying to extinguish the fire, the owner showed up uninjured, according to the chief.

The car was burning as it sat on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes of I-75. The scene was less than a mile from Exit 134, the Caryville-Jacksboro-La Follette interchange.

Mutual aid was requested and received from the Jacksboro Fire Department. Other departments that assisted in working the fire were Caryville Police, Campbell Sheriff’s Office, Campbell EMS and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/30/2024-6AM)
