Friday evening, May 23, is a THP checkpoint night on Highway 116 at the Red Roof Market at Caryville

KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF)- Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers continue to concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who are driving impaired/driving under the influence in the State of Tennessee. The Tennessee
Highway Patrol has found Sobriety Checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing DUI laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protections of all motorists. There are two scheduled THP Sobriety Checkpoints for Campbell County in June.

On back-to-back weeks, the THP will stage here in Campbell County. The first checkpoint will be along Highway 116 at Little Cove Creek Road at Caryville on Saturday evening, June 14. Then on Friday, June 20, the THP will run a checkpoint in La Follette on Demory Road at the White Bridge, near Lonas Young Park at Norris Lake.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol recognizes that sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.

Checkpoint information can also be obtained by going to the state’s website. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/14/2025-6AM)

  1. Doesn’t it get dangerous on the roads where people see the check point ahead and several cars start to pull off the road and into drive ways to turn around and avoid the checkpoints???

  2. Well hopefully the people that decide to drive drunk will somehow forget where the checkpoints are at and get caught. I think they should not be announced.
