PIONEER, TN (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard-working educators with a weekly feature.
This week’s featured educator is Madison Yancey. She teaches Third and Fourth Grade Math and Science at Elk Valley STEM School.
She is from Scott County, Tennessee, and attended Oneida High School. After high school, Yancey attended and graduated from Tennessee Technological University with her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education in 2020, then again with a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction in 2022.

“I am in my fifth-year teaching and have spent four of those years at Elk Valley Elementary STEM School where I teach 3rd and 4th grade Math and Science. Working at Elk Valley is so special because of the people. I am fortunate to have great coworkers, students, and strong community support,” Yancey said.
She said from the “very beginning” she knew she wanted to teach and that it was her own teachers who inspired this in her.

“I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. My passion for teaching came from a love for learning, which was largely inspired by my own elementary teachers. Teaching young people is full of fun and “aha” moments that I love so much.”
Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
