LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF) The LaFollette City Council met quickly Tuesday afternoon.
On the agenda was promoting Chris Smith to full-time recreation director effective Feb. 8 and transferring Clifford Gerrish from public works to the recreation department. Both promotions were approved by the council.
The council had three resolutions on the agenda. Resolution 2025-02 was to apply for a state community development block grant to be used for the ditch at Sergeant Park, Resolution 2025-03 amending the 2024-25 budget and Resolution 2025-04 authorizing and providing the financing of the construction of a water facilities project were approved.
Bethany Benjamin with the Cub Scouts spoke to the council about the upcoming Pinewood Derby Car Build Day on Sat., Feb. 15, at First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. To participate in the project, anyone interested, can join Scouting America to get a build kit. The Pinewood Derby for Mount Cammerer District will be held Sat., March 1, at 3pm, at the West End Community Center in LaFollette. Anyone interested can call Bethany at (865)455-6722.
