Theft occurs at shop across from former IGA store

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- LaFollette Police Officer Justin Painter was dispatched to 1208 Jacksboro Pike, LaFollette, on Sunday (April 6), about a reported breaking and entering.

When Officer Painter arrived, he made contact with the shop owner and his wife. The owner stated that according to his camera on April 4, at 11:23 pm, an individual had broken into a silver truck parked in front of the garage door of the shop, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department.

The suspect had gotten into the vehicle and taken a Dell14R touchscreen laptop and a jacket, leaving the property. According to the shop owner, the items were taken without permission. Officer Painter reviewed the camera footage and was able to identify the suspect as Shawn Paul Goins.  The patrolman checked the area around the shop and found the stolen items in some high weeds several yards away from the shop. The items were recovered and returned to the shop owner.

Goins was arrested on April 8 by LaFollette Police Officer Jesse Ferguson. Goins, 39, LaFollette, was charged with theft of property $1,000-$2,500 and attempted burglary, other than habitation. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/21/2025-6AM)
