Mr. Kenny Michael Bartley, age 76, of LaFollette, Tennessee, passed away on April 22, 2026, at Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born on January 10, 1950, along with his twin sister, Sherry. He was a 1968 graduate of LaFollette High School and a 1972 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College). After graduating, he began his career in education, teaching at West LaFollette Elementary School. He later served his community as Vice Mayor on the LaFollette City Council.

Kenny was best known as the longtime owner and operator of Kenny’s Pioneer Market and Deli, which he operated for more than 30 years. His hoagies and hot dogs became local favorites—truly the stuff of legend—and are still fondly remembered by many. He also owned and operated Bartley’s Self Storage. Kenny never met a stranger; his friendly, outgoing nature and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He loved his family, friends, and customers deeply. He will be missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Polly Bartley of LaFollette.

Kenny is survived by his son, Kenneth Stuart Bartley; his twin sister, Sherry B. Wright, and her husband, Doug, of Clinton, Tennessee; his niece, Kristen Heffern, her husband, Todd, and their son Elliot, all of Knoxville. He is also survived by his former wife, Rita Broyles of Jacksboro; his beloved dog, Cooper; and his granddog, Matilda.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Beeler Cemetery in Speedwell with Mr. Mark A. Wells officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Campbell County Historical Society at 205 E. Central Ave. LaFollette, TN 37766, or by phone at (423) 566-3581.
