JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Lacie Hatmaker, a 7th grader at Jacksboro Middle School, scored a perfect 100 on her latest TCAP Math exam making it the second year in row she has recorded a perfect score. Lacie’s principal, Gretchen Thomas, calls Lacie’s feat an outstanding accomplishment and speaks to her dedication and hard work.

“Balancing academics with extracurricular activities like basketball is no small feat, and it’s clear that Lacie excels in both areas. Coming from a family of educators, she likely benefits from a strong support system that values learning and personal development, which has clearly played a role in her success,” said Thomas.

There’s a lot of math influence from Lacie’s family. Her grandfathers taught math, Gary Hatmaker, the late Jack Faulkner, and her aunt Mary Wynn Arnold. Other family members, Grandmother Binnie Faulkner, Uncle John and Aunt Margaret Faulkner and Linda Agee were also educators.

Lacie’s mother, Binnie Hatmaker, also credits the great math teachers along the way for helping her to develop her math skills, Aaron Brown and Melissa Davis at Jacksboro Elementary School and Stacy Brown at Jacksboro Middle School.

“It’s inspiring to see a student who not only shines academically but also contributes on the court. Lacie’s future is bright, and she is setting a great example for her peers,” said Thomas.

Six other Campbell County students scored a 100 on their Math TCAPs, Zane Carroll, Abby Sampieri and Vivien Stooksbury of Jacksboro Elementary School, Cooper Clabo of White Oak School and Abigail Ford and Layla Hatmakerof La Follette Elementary School.
